Job Title: Geospatial / GIS Technical Writer (S-003)
Location: Crystal City, VA ($1,000 REFERRAL BONUS!)

Career Level: Mid Level (5+ Years) (55-80k) / U.S. Citizenship Required / Clearance Preferred

Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Geospatial Technical Writer / Business Analyst to support our clients Geospatial technology project requirements. This job is a full time position and will be located in Northern Virginia. The candidate must be a US Citizen and capable of attaining Secret security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates that possess an active clearance. Elicit requirements via client and internal interviews, document analysis, site visits, surveys, use cases, workflow analysis and business analytics. Critically assemble, order, evaluate and catalog information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: [Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), Use Cases, Quality Assurance Plans, Technical Standards]. Utilize experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies required. Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously. Work independently with users to define concepts/requirements and under direction of project managers. Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans. Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application, operational and quality assurance/control requirements. Develop requirements specifications according to technical standards. Build templates and workflows to manage boilerplate updates. Elucidate technical specifications using natural language. Collaborate with managers, users and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs. Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
 
Skills & Qualifications :
 
Minimum/Ideal Qualifications:
The candidate should have good cross functional skills to perform critical analysis of business processes and needs, excellent communication skills both verbal and written, technical familiarity with databases, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes, Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and experience in Department of Defense, preferably with the US Army. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
• College Degree
• 5 years of related experience
• Installation-level DoD experience preferred
• Familiar with GIS / CADD database technologies preferred
• Experience in defining, implementing, and monitoring QA/QC processes.
• Experience with the Spatial Data Standard for Installations & the Environment.
• Experience in administrating/managing documentation workflows
• Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
• Good oral communication skills, Excellent writing skills, Self motivated and able to function independently.
