General Description:
• General duties will involve:Collecting GPS data in the field, managing and processing GPS and survey data, performing QA/QC and database ‘cleanup’, managing & designing geospatial databases, manipulating data, performing geographic analysis, creating reports, and creating exhibits for use in permitting, analysis, and display.

Required Skill
- Solidunderstanding of technical application, concepts, principals, and theories in GIS.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in remote environments.
- Effectively communicate with the GIS team, other departments, and clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
 
Skills & Qualifications :
 
Technical Experience:
- 2+ years’ experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop (9.x, 10.x) is required.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS data models.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• MS Access - basic proficiency
• MS Outlook- basic proficiency
• MS Excel- intermediate proficiency
• MS Word - intermediate proficiency
• MS PowerPoint - intermediate proficiency
- A thorough knowledge of GPS concepts and GPS data collection
- Experience using mapping grade or survey grade GPS units to collect location and attribute data.
- Experience with Trimble units or CartoPac software a plus.

Required Educational Background
-BA/BS degree from an accredited College or University in Geography, Geology, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manage geospatial databases and perform QA/QC
- Process and organize GPS field data.
- Designs & develops project specific GIS applications or processes requiring programming and or customization of GIS applications.
- Design and implement field collection databases.
- Produce sophisticated exhibits, documents, and reports to assist with permitting and analysis.
- Collect GIS data using mapping grade GPS units.
- Manage data upload, download, and post processing
- Verify data meets client’s standards.
- Assists in procurement of new data.
- Performs raster and vector based GIS analysis as needed.
- Work in remote areas all day in a variety of extreme weather conditions. Physically active.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees, land personnel, and the public.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

** Knowledge of the oil and gas industry a plus**
** Knowledge of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) a plus**
**Knowledge of underground pipe location a plus**
