Key Responsibilities:

1. AWiFS images were georeferenced using Landsat data. Boundaries of glaciers were digitized to estimate the change in glacier area from 1962 to 1998 and from 1998 to 2009. ASTER DEM is used as elevation source. Images were overlaid on DEM to locate exact boundaries and flow direction of glaciers.
2. Various features of glaciers such as elevation range, debris cover, slope were estimated and studied to see their contribution in the area loss.
3. Creating and handling shape files-database of glaciers boundaries
4. modelling the future changes in glaciers
5. Estimation of volume of stored water in the glaciers of Indian Himalaya
6. Changes in glacier area, snowcover and debris cover in Parbati basin.
7. Snow and glacier melt runoff model for Parbati basin.
8. Changes in areal extent, mass balance and estimates of volume of stored water in the Himalayan glaciers. (Kulkarni and Karyakarte, 2014).
9. Estimates of present (2000) and future (2030, 2050 and 2080) mass balance for Karakoram and Himalayan region based on the four RCP 2.6, 4.5, 6.0 and 8.5 scenario (Chaturvedi et al., 2014).
